Mohare danda Trek Alternative to Ghorepani- Poon hill
Mohare Danda Based on sustainable tourism concept with eco friendly design, Mohare Danda Trek route is recently introduced with the local community initiative in the Annapurna region. This short route is a perfect alternative from the overcrowded Ghorepani – Poon Hill Trek for the trekkers of all fitness levels. Given the still unexplored locations with stunningly beautiful natural scenery, it may one day outshine Poon Hill in terms of vistas and because they offer ridge-top accommodation sorely lacking elsewhere. Khopra Danda (3650 m) is the highest and closest vantage point to the massive Annapurna South, and the well-furnished inn at Mohare Danda (3300m) has jaw-dropping views with a panorama that extends from Gurja Himal right up to Himalchuli, and looks down on Phewa Lake.

Tour Reviews
Fantastic trekking, really helpful agency and great guide for Mohare Danda Trek
Mohare Danda is a great alternative trek to Poon Hill that cuts out the crowds and provides a more authentic opportunity to see some of the more remote villages and stay at lodges that are community owned.
Dev at Eastern Light was really good at listening to what we wanted and advising us on the perfect trek for our family. Mohare Danda was challenging for our fit adventurous 14year old son and 12 year old daughter – pushed them but in a good way! We have a fantastic guide (Ankit who we thoroughly recommend – good fun, really happy to talk about Nepal history and way of life and was sensitive to give some time and space to family – also an epic card player. He was always looking out for our safety & wellbeing and really goes the extra mile – for instance, he took us home via Sarangkot for a final epic view of Annapurna :)).
Eastern Light is located right on the “Centre Point” of Lakeside so really easy to find. You can organise the treks when you arrive very easily so don’t worry about booking from home (although if you can get Ankit then its worth asking ahead!).
The trek was amazing – so many sights to see and great places to stay along the route in private homes and community lodges. Food was perfect and we loved the packed lunches that we ate along the way. Great organisation from the first jeep ride to the start of the trek, to the last one home! Would highly recommend Dev and his team.
